A message from Miss Sanderson

Welcome to our school website.

Our school is situated in the beautiful village of Silverdale, which is in an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ standing on Morecambe Bay, on the edge of the Lake District, and just 8.5 miles north of Lancaster. We currently have 65 children on roll, aged 3 to 11.

Silverdale St John’s CE Primary School is a vibrant school where children are enthusiastic and motivated to be the best that they can be, in all areas of life, because they are all very special. The children are at the heart of every decision we make to ensure they are happy, confident and that the opportunities that are provided for them, are relevant to their needs both now and in the future.

Our distinctive Christian ethos is something that we are very proud of and in our 2017 SIAMS Inspection, it was stated that ‘the excellent care, nurture and guidance of all pupils and their families demonstrate the distinct Christian ethos of the school’. At Silverdale St John’s, we firmly believe that “we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.” Philippians 4:13.

Our mission statement ‘Inspiring Success through Learning, Community and Faith ’is reflected in all we do. Through our engaging and active curriculum, we ensure that children can foster a passion for learning that will help to develop high aspirations and a lifetime of memories. We believe in ensuring that children receive a balanced curriculum; both in and outdoors: where individual talents can be spotted and nurtured to ensure that all experience success and reach full potential. We love forest school, outdoor learning and utilising the beautiful environment of Silverdale to enrich our curriculum. We can also offer wrap around care from 8am-6pm and have very active enrichment clubs.

The school has a dedicated team that works hard to reach high standards. This is further embedded through many successful relationships with parents, the church, local community, and the other schools. We firmly believe that education is a partnership between home and school and regard you as an active partner in your child’s education and value your interest, input, and support.

The pages on our website give a flavour of the many and varied activities that our children and staff enjoy during the school day and after school. However, the best way to find out what a wonderful school we are, is to come and visit us. We are always delighted to show visitors around.

Please telephone the school office for an appointment and do not hesitate to contact me for further information.

We look forward to seeing you

Links to Church

There are close links between school and St John’s, which are valued by both church and school. Mary Ashton is the Priest in Charge. She is in school working with the Worship Team as well as leading weekly Worship times. We also have visitors from other Christian organisations leading assemblies and are pleased that Rev Emma (our local Methodist minister) will continue leading assemblies. The children attend and lead services in church during times of Christian festivals e.g. Easter, Lent and Advent.
